We can act as an independent Financial Guardian for adults who lack capacity to manage their money and property, and who have not granted a valid Power of Attorney.

We are also nominated to act as Financial Guardian by some Local Authorities.

We are happy to discuss acting in private applications where a professional guardian is necessary.

We deal with a limited number of applications for guardianship where:

• One of our solicitors is being appointed as a professional guardian.
• The proposed guardian is looking for authority to set up a trust. For example, this might be to hold compensation for a personal injury.

Fees
We do not undertake guardianship work on a legal aid basis. Wherever possible, we work on a fixed fee basis, which we will agree at the outset. If the guardianship order relates to a compensation claim, then our legal fees and any outlays will normally be included as part of the claim.
